Product Description:
MEG, Mono Ethylene Glycol is a kind of transparent Liquid, free of mechanical impurities, CAS number 107-21-1, formula C2H6O2.
Product Application:
For Tech Grade MEG
1. MEG is mainly used for the production of synthetic resins, surfactants and explosives, especially for textile industry, MEG can be produced into synthesize polyester fiber
2. MEG could also be used as antifreeze, especially in automotive antifreeze and deicing vehicle.
Ethylene glycol is of low toxicity. Rat LD50 is 5.5ml/kg ~ 8.54ml/kg. The LD50 of a human oral dose is 80g ~ 100g. The concentration of ethylene glycol in the blood reaches 2.4g/L, which can cause acute renal failure. It can be absorbed from the digestive tract, skin and respiratory tract, and excreted from the kidneys in its original form or in the form of oxalate (oxalate) after oxidation. Ethylene glycol is oxidized to carbon dioxide and is excreted from the respiratory tract. Although ethylene glycol is highly toxic, its volatility is very small, so it is unlikely to cause serious poisoning by inhalation during production. The symptoms of inhalation poisoning include confusion, nystagmus, protein, calcium oxalate crystals and red blood cells in the urine. Oral poisoning can be clinically divided into three stages: the first stage is mainly symptoms of the central nervous system, such as ethanol poisoning; the main symptoms of the second stage are shortness of breath, cyanosis, and various manifestations of pulmonary edema or bronchopneumonia; the third stage In the first stage, the renal lesions are obvious, including low back pain, percussion pain in the kidney area, renal function damage, proteinuria, hematuria, calcium oxalate crystals in the urine, oliguria or even anuria, and acute renal failure. Those who accidentally ingest it should be treated according to the general first aid principles for oral poisoning. 600 ml of 1/6 mol sodium lactate solution and 10 ml of 10% calcium gluconate can be given intravenously. Artificial kidney dialysis can be used for patients with severe poisoning.
