Description:
This strain is a mixture of magnesium stearate and magnesium palmitate. The character is white light sand free fine powder; Slightly smelly; Creamy in contact with skin. Insoluble in water, ethanol or ether.
Magnesium stearate, also known as magnesium stearate, is a fatty acid salt type anionic surfactant. It appears as white fine powder with a slight odor and a slippery feel. Soluble in hot aliphatic hydrocarbons, hot aromatic hydrocarbons, hot grease, but insoluble in alcohol and water, it decomposes into stearic acid and corresponding magnesium salts when exposed to strong acid. Magnesium stearate has good adhesion to the skin and good lubricity. It is used in powder products in cosmetics to improve adhesion and lubricity. Magnesium stearate can be used as a heat stabilizer for polyvinyl chloride. Its stabilizing performance is similar to that of calcium stearate. It can be used in food packaging materials in conjunction with zinc soap or calcium soap, but it is not widely used. Magnesium stearate can also be used as a release agent for plastic products, a raw material for cosmetic powder, emollient ointment, a powder molding agent for pharmaceutical tablets, and a translucent flattening agent for paints. The finished product of magnesium stearate is obtained in the laboratory through the metathesis reaction of Sodium Stearate and magnesium sulfate. It can also be refined from a mixture of food-grade solid organic acids (stearic acid, palmitic acid) and magnesium oxide.
