Product Application:
Ethanolamine is miscible with water, methanol, and acetone, slightly soluble in benzene and ether, and sparingly soluble in n-pentane. It exhibits strong alkalinity, with a dissociation constant K=3.39×10-10 (25℃). A 25% aqueous solution has a pH of 12.1 and can absorb carbon dioxide from the air. Its hydrochloride salt is a hygroscopic crystal with a melting point of 75-77℃. It is industrially produced by the reaction of ethylene oxide with ammonia. Ethanolamine is an important chemical raw material used in the production of pharmaceuticals, fragrances, surfactants, coatings, emulsifiers, etc. It is also used as a leather softener and pesticide dispersant. It can also be used for gas purification to remove carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide from the gas.
Ethanolamine is mainly used as a plasticizer, vulcanizing agent, accelerator, and foaming agent in the synthesis of resins and rubber. It is also used as an intermediate for pesticides, pharmaceuticals, and dyes. Additionally, it is used as a raw material for the synthesis of surfactants and emulsifiers in detergents and cosmetics.
