Product Description:
Methylene Chloride is a kind of colorless, transparent liquid, CAS number 75-09-2, formula CH2Cl2.
Dichloromethane is inert due to stereoelectronic effects and does not normally participate in chemical reactions. But it can also participate in the reaction under certain conditions. Industrial accidents have occurred in the past when residual dichloromethane reacted with sodium azide in N, n-dimethylformamide to form diazomethane and blew up factories.
Product Application:
Dichloromethane (DCM) has the advantages of strong solubility and low toxicity, and is widely used in the production of safe film, polycarbonate, as well as in other applications such as paint Solvents, metal degreasers, smoke aerosol sprays, polyurethane foam agents, mold release agents, paint strippers, and more.
Dichloromethane is a colorless liquid, used as a reaction medium in the pharmaceutical industry for the preparation of ampicillin, hydroxybenzyl penicillin, cephalosporin, etc. It is also used as a solvent in film production, a wax remover in petroleum, a propellant in aerosols, an organic synthesis extractant, a foaming agent in polyurethane foam production, a metal cleaner, and more. In China, dichloromethane is mainly used in film production and the pharmaceutical industry, with film production accounting for 50% of total consumption, pharmaceuticals for 20%, cleaners and chemical industry for 20%, and other applications for 10%.
Dichloromethane is the least toxic of the methane chlorides, with only 0.11% of the toxicity of carbon tetrachloride. Health hazards: This product has an anesthetic effect and mainly damages the central nervous system and respiratory system. The main route of human exposure is inhalation. It has been measured that high concentrations of methylene chloride are present when methylene chloride is used as a paint remover in indoor production environments. Exposure to the general population through ambient air, drinking water, and food is much lower. It is estimated that approximately 80% of the world's production of methylene chloride is released into the atmosphere, but the rapid rate of photolysis of this compound makes it impossible for it to accumulate in the atmosphere. Its initial degradation products are phosgene and carbon monoxide, which are then converted into carbon dioxide and hydrochloric acid. When methylene chloride is present in surface water, most of it will evaporate. It is readily biodegradable in the presence of oxygen, so bioaccumulation seems unlikely. However, its behavior in soil still needs to be determined.
Other solutions include Methylene Chloride, Isopropyl Alcohol, Glacial Acetic Acid
